President Javier Milei is set to bestow the Honoris Causa award upon Spanish economist Jesús Huerta de Soto during a ceremony at the Escuela Superior de Economía y Administración de Empresas (ESEADE) in Buenos Aires. The event, scheduled for 7:00 PM local time, will feature a 20-minute address by President Milei focusing on the themes of liberty and Huerta de Soto’s contributions to economic thought.
Jesús Huerta de Soto, a prominent figure in the Austrian School of Economics, has been a significant influence on President Milei’s economic philosophy. In his inauguration speech on December 10, 2023, Milei cited Huerta de Soto, stating, “As the great Jesús Huerta de Soto says, anti-poverty plans generate more poverty. The only way out of poverty is with more freedom.”
Following the ceremony, President Milei will depart for Rome to attend the funeral of Pope Francis, accompanied by members of his cabinet.
