Buenos Aires, Argentina – The government of President Javier Milei has filed a formal complaint against the authorities of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), alleging that they illegally blocked the university’s official website. Instead of accessing the institutional portal, students and the public were reportedly redirected to a page with political content, a move the government deems a violation of the university’s obligation to maintain normal institutional functions.

The complaint, filed by the Ministry of Human Capital through the Undersecretary of University Policies, demands an immediate end to this maneuver. The ministry has also requested an investigation to determine the administrative and legal responsibilities of those who ordered the creation of the political sub-domain.

The government’s action serves as a stern reminder to national universities that they must guarantee equal access to information for all students and maintain transparency and neutrality in the use of public resources. This denunciation underscores the administration’s commitment to institutional transparency and its defense of students’ rights, arguing that the use of official digital tools to disseminate political messages is an overreach of the educational institutions’ role.
