Buenos Aires, Argentina – Argentina’s inflation for August was 1.9%, marking the fourth consecutive month that the rate has remained below 2%, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec). This sustained deceleration in price increases is attributed to the economic plan implemented by President Javier Milei’s government.
The article highlights that the accumulated inflation for the first eight months of the year stands at 19.5%, the lowest figure for this period since 2020. A key point is that the recent rise in the dollar had no effect on prices, indicating that the “pass-through” was nonexistent, an achievement the government celebrates as a sign of the stability achieved.
Indec’s report also details the behavior of different sectors, with core inflation at 2%, while seasonal goods and services experienced a decrease of 0.8% and regulated items increased by 2.7%. The Basic Food Basket and Total Basic Basket, key indicators for measuring poverty, showed a monthly increase of 1%. In comparison, the City of Buenos Aires reported a monthly inflation rate of 1.6% for August.
