Since its implementation in October 2024, President Javier Milei’s Regime for the Promotion of Large Investments (RIGI) has successfully attracted 13 major projects totaling approximately $13.9 billion. These initiatives span across strategic sectors such as energy, mining, industry, and logistics, aiming to revitalize Argentina’s economy and enhance its global competitiveness.

Approved Projects

The Ministry of Economy has approved four significant projects under the RIGI framework

  • Vaca Muerta Sur Oil Pipeline: A $3 billion investment by a consortium including YPF, PAE, Vista, Pampa Energía, Pluspetrol, Chevron, and Shell. This 430-kilometer pipeline will connect Neuquén and Río Negro, facilitating oil transport from the Vaca Muerta formation.

  • Southern Energy Liquefaction Vessel: A $2.9 billion project involving PAE, YPF, Pampa Energía, Harbour Energy, and Golar. The floating liquefaction unit will operate in the Gulf of San Matías, Río Negro, enhancing LNG export capabilities.

  • Rio Tinto’s Rincón Lithium Project: With a $2.724 billion investment in Salta, this project focuses on lithium extraction, a critical component for battery production.

  • YPF’s El Quemado Solar Park: A $211 million renewable energy initiative in Mendoza, contributing to Argentina’s sustainable energy goals.

  • PCR and Acindar’s Wind Farm: A $255 million renewable energy project in Olavarría, Buenos Aires.

  • Posco’s Lithium Project: A $633 million investment in Salta by the South Korean mining company.

  • Ganfeng’s Mariana Project: A $273 million lithium mining initiative in Salta.

  • McEwen Copper’s Los Azules Project: A $227 million copper mining project in San Juan.
