President Javier Milei will momentarily halt his domestic campaign travels to fly to Washington and meet with U.S. President Donald Trump. Upon his return to Argentina, he plans to resume his electoral push by holding the final rally in Córdoba — a province where he traditionally enjoys strong support.
The trip to the U.S. is brief: sources say Milei will depart Monday afternoon, have a working meeting in Washington, and be back by Tuesday night. He will travel with a high-level delegation including his sister Karina, Economy Minister Luis “Toto” Caputo, Security Minister Patricia Bullrich, spokesman Manuel Adorni, and Central Bank head Santiago Bausili.
While in Washington, Milei is scheduled to be formally received by Trump in the Oval Office, marking a symbolic moment in Argentina-U.S. relations. His agenda will include bilateral discussions over the swap agreement and other aspects of the recent financial pact. This visit is framed not just as diplomacy, but as political capital.
Once back in Argentina, Milei plans a streamlined return to campaigning. He is expected to visit Córdoba in the coming days and deliver the closing act of his campaign there on October 22. The choice of Córdoba is symbolic: it’s a stronghold for his movement and already played a key role in his 2023 campaign.
This strategic pause underscores Milei’s dual approach: balancing global diplomacy with domestic tactics. It signals that he views international endorsement as part of the campaign narrative and aims to leverage the U.S. meeting to bolster momentum for the final stretch.
