Buenos Aires, Argentina – The government of President Javier Milei has launched a digital platform to accelerate the process of privatizing state-owned companies. The measure seeks to streamline and increase the transparency of the sale or concession of state assets, centralizing all operations in a public-access digital system.
The key points of this initiative are:
- New Digital Platform: A new module has been enabled within the CONTRAT.AR Electronic Management System, called “Privatizaciones Leyes Nros. 27.742 y 23.696” (Privatizations Laws Nos. 27.742 and 23.696).
- Objective: To expedite the bidding and public tender processes for the total or partial privatization of state-owned companies, with the aim of strengthening the country’s international reserves and meeting the objectives of the economic plan.
- Scope: The module will electronically manage the sale of assets and shares, the transfer of capital shares, the sale of productive establishments, and the granting of concessions and licenses.
- Companies in Focus: Among the companies targeted for total or partial privatization are Intercargo, Corredores Viales, AySA, and Nucleoeléctrica Argentina.
The measure was made official through a disposition from the National Contracting Office (ONC) and came into effect on August 12, 2025.
